And things are about to get even worse, with the low income apartments coming in right by the schools on Haymon Morris. Way to go Barrow county!

What does "low-income apartments" have to do with student achievement? Just because a child's family doesn't have much doesn't mean that they will struggle in school!

Well Thank goodness those 8th grader will be going back to the original Math after struggling with the new math since 5th grade! In my opinion if the state wants to change the way a subject is taught, start with the 1st graders not the 5th graders, parents could not even help there child with this Math. Most failed the CRCT math in 5th grade and summer school was so full they bused them to school ! Well that cost some money, the state had to pay for that! Maybe they will learn a valuable lesson from this,so these now 8th graders going into high school will hopefully remember the old Math . They don't do CRCT in H.s. so will we ever know how they are doing in the old Math?

I read in the paper a while back and also my daughter which is in highschool said that the HS will no longer teach the new math. The old math will be taught this up coming school year and from now on also the graduation test is no more too. but if you have kids in highschool already then they will have to take grad. test.

thats what happens when you allow the Feds in and to make sure "no child is left behind", Im sorry, some children should be left behind so others can go ahead. It is the parents responsibility to study with their children, if the children fail, that is on them. Let them redo the grade and learn it again until they get it right, instead we expect our teachers to "dumb" our children so the small percentage can catch up
