BOE approves FY2011-12 budget

After months of number crunching and meetings, the Barrow County Board of Education unanimously approved its proposed FY2011-12 budget Tuesday night. The budget does not call for a tax increase.

School leaders asked the board to formally adopt the budget, which includes six furlough days for staff and four furlough days for students.

Students cannot be furloughed. Students do not have 4 furlough days... they simply have 4 fewer school days, making the school year 176 days long instead of the usual 180 days.
