Body found in Auburn park

An unidentified body was found in Little Mulberry Park off Fence Road in Auburn Sunday night, Gwinnett County Police Department reported.

Officers were dispatched to the unincorporated area of Gwinnett County in Auburn just after 6 p.m. when a man who was hiking in the park with his son discovered the body in the area of a trail within the park.

The Gwinnett Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit as well as detectives responded.

Due to the state of decomposition, the gender of the body was not able to be determined on scene. A cause of death and identity were not immediately apparent.

Authorities with the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s office, who will perform the autopsy on the body, said the autopsy should be finished this afternoon.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
