Nearly two years after Ashley Payne filed suit against the Barrow County School District for violation of the Georgia Fair Dismissal Act due to content on her Facebook page, both parties in the legal battle still maintain they are right.
The district, represented by McLocklin and Murphy, LLP, filed a motion for summary judgment June 2 claiming it no longer had jurisdiction to grant Payne “the relief she seeks; which is a due process hearing over a contract long since terminated by agreement or expired.”
However, Payne’s attorney Richard Storrs said Tuesday he had not yet reviewed the motion in detail and called it a “routine filing.”
“I honestly have not prepared my response,” Storrs said in a phone conversation.
