Another child sexual predator was caught this week by Barrow County Crime Task Force investigators.
Sridhar Marta, 30, of Alpharetta, was arrested Thursday in connection with an ongoing undercover investigation involving online sexual predators. An undercover task force investigator assigned from the Statham Police Department posed as a 14-year-old female and chatted online with Marta for two days before Marta suggested a meeting. Marta drove approximately 90 minutes to Statham to meet the female with the intent to have sexual relations with her.
Instead, Marta met force investigators who arrested him without incident. Law enforcement agents from the cities of Auburn and Statham contributed to the investigation, as well.
Marta is charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and violation of the computer pornography child exploitation act.
This marks the ninth arrest by the sheriff’s office since the undercover investigations began September of last year.
The sheriff’s office continues its pursuit of child predators who try to meet, contact, or even attempt to contact children in Barrow County. The sheriff’s office encourages all parents to monitor their childrens' Internet activity, including chat logs, history of sites visited and social networking sites. Any suspicious activity should be reported to law enforcement.
