Allegations that Barrow County law enforcement officers have routinely abused prisoners exploded last Thursday when representatives of the NAACP held a new conference on the steps of the old Courthouse.

But in the days since that meeting, serious questions have been raised about the motives of the accusers.

The issues involve sex, lying, video, violence and politics.

Sheriff Jud Smith, upset over the allegations about his department, said following the news conference that the complaints came from “disgruntled former employees.”

In addition, Smith’s political nemesis, Barrow County Board of Commissioners Chairman Danny Yearwood, met three times with representatives of the NAACP back in April, but didn’t tell either Smith or the county attorney of his meetings.

What have we got now, the klan in bed with the naacp? conspiring against all working class citizens of all races for the avancement of the stoned ,drunk population.

No, what we have is an idiot with a grudge against the sheriff.

Good Ole Boy Danny has already proven that he has a temper and is nothing more than a bully.

Danny plotting with the NAACP is a real S-T-R-E-T-C-H, especially since they're always on his back about problems at the annex. Goin' out on a limb here - wonderin' if Danny was just tryin' to head some more law suits against the county off at the pass? And maybe he was trying to do it without paying the county attorney - who already makes WAY to much off county mistakes? That's real benefit of the doubt dreamin' there...

The NAACP, Jessie and Al all are just race batters. They always make it about race. It is never that the person has been wronged it is they have been discriminated against. If they don’t keep the situation stirred up in American then they don’t get any money given to their organizations.

How do you think Al and Jessie along with the NAACP have been able to live so high on the hog for so many years? RACE BATEING!

Ok. I am just going to throw something out here. Where was the NAACP when Officer Buddy Christian got shot by Jamie Hood? They were the first ones to scream racism when Rodney King and others were "abused" by police, but not a peep when Officer Christian was murdered. I believe that says something.

U have a good point!!!

But truly I think it's time someone comes into Barrow & cleans house! MANY (& I don't think it's Judd!) of our police are crooked! They even treat our underage kids terrible! I know there are some bad kids but sometimes there are times when people they have are truly innocent (& yes mine was innocent), but an officer cussed & threatened my child after he was arrested from being attacked by a former Winder Fire fighter & in front of 2 officers! Needles to say no video tap could be produced even knowing my child was hit in front of the police car VIPER officer at that! I told Judd nothing was done! But GOD has made things happen for a reason & KARMA worked out for us!

So not just for black, white, young, or old but all citizens it's time to clean house!

We need some new people who are not in with the GOOD OH BOY SYSTEM they are running here!!!

My heart goes out to the family of officer Buddy Christian!

The NAACP does not benefit financially if they defend a police officer. Only when they stir up race against the establishment per race bating. Race bating get donations sent to them not defending a cop
