Booze by the bottle on Sundays?

In addition to electing the city’s next mayor and half the city council, Winder voters in November will decide whether to allow local retailers to sell alcohol by the package on Sundays.

If the issue passes, stores for the first time would be allowed to sell alcohol by the package on Sundays from 12:30-11:30 p.m.

The Winder City Council on Tuesday night voted unanimously to add the question to the ballot for the Nov. 8 municipal elections.

If voters approve the measure, retailers would be allowed to sell beer, wine and liquor in Winder by the package starting Nov. 13.

Not all the republicans are hypocrites. Republicans are also called "conservatives" and wouldn't necessarily want alcohol sales.Alcohol sales have little to do with political parties.

I'm all for booze on Sundays and a new mayor and as many new council-people as we can possibly elect! The same folks have been sitting in the same seats on that council for years and, with all due respect to their service history, it's time for some new blood, new faces and new ideas. As for the mayor, he tried, but he has little to show for his time in office. Let's give someone else a shot at tangible change...Cheers! even on a Sunday!

How pathetic. Now we have another day to worry about getting hit by these Jug Tavern jerks as we ride to eat lunch after Sunday service. Nice move Chip and Associates. The city has a heck of alot more important issues than this one. Rise up vote them out and this down.

TickedOff, get real. You should worry about any one on the roads. Lots of people kill others simply by not paying attention. And guess what? If some one is going to drive drunk, they could just as easily go sit in a bar somewhere and then get in their car. At least if alcohol is sold on Sundays, these people may buy a bottle and drink it at home. Separation of church and state!!!! YOUR religion should have NOTHING to do with the rest of the free world.

All of you pitiful,alcohol dependent bed wetters cry me a handful. I simply stated my stance and feelings on the matter as you and everyone else is intitled. Yet, you wanna attack my education, profitability, and religion? I am a Christian, and am as proud of it as you are being a drunk. If I am against Sunday sales so be it. If you are for it so be it. It aint personal. I love how quickly everyone turns into a lawyer and starts screaming "church and state". Or is it the liquor talking? Ya'll keep on drinking and I'll keep going to the bank. Little side note Michelle, religion is why we are free.God gives us freedom to choose. I choose Him. Not condemning you if you don't. Read Matthew,Mark, Luke, John. Theres more there than at the bottom of a bottle.

Just because you christians lack self-discipline, does not mean the rest of the free world does.
If someone chooses to imbibe, that does not make them alcohol dependent.
Seems to me you are the one who is dependent...using your religion as a crutch to beat other folks over the head with.

I also remeber in your litle black book something about jesus turning water into wine for his moms party.
Maybe I'm wrong...I burnt my bible years ago.

Something to consider: Other states have alcohol sales on Sunday and they have for a LONG time. I don't think that they have any more DUIs on Sunday than any other day or any other alcohol related problems. I predict if this passes we will see an increase on Sunday DUIs initially (the novelty of being able to make these purchases will inundate the stores for a few months) and then things will level off to the way they were before.

It never ceases to amaze me that as smart as some of you are... with all that extensive vocabulary, philosophy, and advice that you jump to so many conclusions. Im not imposing or beating anyone over the head with my religion. i simply stated my stance on Sunday sales an BAM! instant ridicule and persecution. but hey thats been the case for generations. Also intrigued to understand why anyone would burn the most popular best seller in the history of the world? if you read Jesus turned water into wine, which is true, then you'd agree judge not lest ye be judged, for all have sinned, and Christ died for you.
Just curious, what do all ye partakers do now without Sunday sales? Let me guess, buy it on Sat. nite? Truth is its not even a moral dilemma. Some drink some don't. Based on religion, conviction, or loss of a loved one to alcoholism, etc. its a matter of revenue for the city of Winder. Read up on all cities and nations throughout history who succumbed to excess. They ultimately failed. History repeats itsself

What part of this is beyond your comprehension: Believe whatever your fool religion tells you to, but do not foist it upon others? Prohibiting sale of booze on Sunday is imposing christian foolishness on people who don't give a crap about jee-bus or simply don't interpret it the way you are damn sure is right.

Once again Im not imposing anything on all drunken illiterates. And that term is befitting since this is the third time I ve had to state it. This is simply a vote. For or against. Given the pitiful state in which this county and city is saddled with, Im quite sure all hungover sots will crawl their way to the polls to vote for this one. Thats what makes this country great, although we both disagree we can express both freedom of speech and religion tote a gun, or buy booze on Sundays if it passes. Gotta love freedom. Wine is a mocker. The Bible says it. I believe it. It also says God will not be mocked and every knee will bow and tongue confess Jesus is Lord.
I'll offer up a prayer for you Drunk Herd, while you offer up a toast.

I agree with you "ticked off" first of all its the drunkards and other hedonistic fools who want to impose ther will and beliefs on everyone else.
Take for an example an innocent child: these creatons want to and do bombard their spongy brains with feel good euphimisms and stories about drunkenness, wild sex with strangers and homo sexuality.They do this in order to make them less likely to belive that they are anything besides a two legged animal with a big brain.
Mostly its so that they will eventually spend their money on drink and drugs makingg the purveyors of these destructful lifestyles very wealthy.
People need to use the vote and stop these worldly, foolish people from imposing their back ward view on everyone else, making even the most contemtuous things seem ok.
Stand up people stop being sheeple.
get a leg up in 2012 return some values to the local community.
