Individual school results on the 2011 high school graduation test were released this week and show that while both local schools improved from the year before, they were still in the bottom half of Georgia results.
As reported last week, the overall Barrow County School System results showed that only 71.1 percent of 11th Graders who took the grad test for the firs time passed all four sections.
On an individual school basis, Winder Barrow High School had a 69.4 percent passing rate, up from its 2010 68.5 percent rate.
Apalachee High School had a 72.9 percent rate this year, up from 69.1 in 2010.
The state average was 74 percent.
WBHS was in the bottom 40 percent of Georgia high schools on the test while AHS fell into the bottom 47 percent.
Of course not they want everybody to think that our kids are stupid and dumb. The math part of that test is hard and my husband could not help our highschool student and he deals with math everyday. Georgia needs to worry about if our kids Are learning and how they are being taught instead of keeping up with the joneses so to speak. STUDENTS SHOULD COME FIRST!!! TEACH THE KIDS WHERE THEY ARE AT NOT WHERE THEY SHOULD BE!
This is the reason my child will be going to George Walton Academy next year. The schools are just getting worst from a discipline stand point and until that is resolved, the learning environment will suffer.
