The City of Auburn’s advisory team for the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH) will hold its second public hearing Thursday on a resolution to adopt the city’s first redevelopment plan.
Last week, on Thursday, May 19, city planner Larry Lucas recommended that the mayor and council approve a resolution number to designate targeted areas and adopt a plan.
Upon adoption of a redevelopment plan, the city will be eligible for grants and low interest loans while working with property owners
The two priorities Lucas identified for the council were to provide quality rental housing and to attract business development.
A final public hearing will take place on Thursday, June 2, at the City Council Business Meeting.
