Winder business caught selling fake items

A clothing store in Downtown Winder was caught this week selling fake merchandise after an undercover officer purchased a fake item.

Winder Police Department executed a search warrant on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. at Flashy-n-Classy located at 83 North Broad Street and discovered that the store contained inventory consisting of counterfeit clothing and pirated music being sold at discounted prices.

The merchandise consisted of items labeled with specific brands such as Prada, Fendi, Polo, Coach, and Louis Vuitton to name a few.

Winder PD investigators became aware after receiving a complaint about the sale of counterfeit goods by the store. After the undercover officer bought the fake merchandise, police obtained a search warrant to search the entire store where additional counterfeit items were then discovered.

The store owner is 36 year old Winder resident Abdoulaye Diallo. Mr. Diallo was arrested on the scene and is being charged with 31 counts Sale of and possession with intent to sell counterfeit merchandise as well as 1 count of Sale of reproduced music CD’s without the consent of the person who owns the master record.

These are all felony charges due to the fact that the retail value of the clothing merchandise seized exceeds a total of $10,000.

Mr. Diallo was also found to be in the country illegally and according to federal officials he is scheduled to be deported to Africa.

Someone cares, because they called and complained. Should the police department dismiss this citizens complaint because you think it is a wast of time and power, or should they respond to everyones complaint? How about other store owners that sale real pocketbooks? I'm sure they don't think it is a waste.

Any Illegal immigrant should be deported, period. Plus, he was taking advantage of Americans buy selling knock offs. If your spouse or friend tried to help the local economy buy purchasing locally and was ripped off, wouldnt you want the person selling it be charged ? Kudos to the WPD and ICE for doing something

But the point is that the WPD and BCSO know that there are mexicans walking right in front of them that are not he legally. All I was saying if you was going to deport him and let the others walk is not showing the same law towards everyone.

I understand, however, that would be called profiling, so if they commit a crime and through the investigation it is found that they are here illegaly, then they would be back in Mexico.

But there was probable cause in this particular case...just becasue you see Mexicans walking on the street doesn't mean they are doing anything that would justify a search and seizure...last time I checked it was not illegal to be Mexican but it is illegal to be here as an illegal alien...you can't check the immigration status of every brown skinned person just because you think they may be an illegal...our system doesn't work that way.

Well, the owners of the genuine brand care a great deal, because counterfeit goods cost them honest revenue. Not to mention how shoddy spurious items dilute the reputation of the brand.

But, since "fake" goods don't gore your ox, you don't care.

i find it funny that anyone in winder actually knows what these brands are. and if they do, that a shop in winder would sell them, lol this is killing me, a shop "selling" fendi and prada in downtown winder, really. if it was a fake walmart brand i could see that....

I agree with you! I, too, am moving out of this backwoods sphinkter of a place! Case and point, there weren't enough fast food restaurants in this town,they had to open a Bojangles....yet another greasy chicken selling establishment for the country folk to carrode their arteries with on Sunday after doing their `rituals' at the one of 80 churches they have available to them. Well we all know there are many people in the growing town of Winder! It's time the WPD took a look into some of the illegal activities right here!

As far as the mexican's, well they are here on visa's for education but not enrolled in school? And then they can work for our local government at places like the Health Dept!

Then people who go to get free stuff @ the health dept do not have to be legal? I think our government needs to stop giving these people who are not legal food stamps, medicaid, & free stuff! It's not fair to those of us who work for what we have!

Well I have been in the store I knew that the items were knock offs and so did the majority of his clients. Why don't the WPD and BCSO go to all the local BP's and arrest the owners for selling knock off cd's? Many american woman in Winder host purse party's and the purses are knock offs. This guy has been running this business one block from the WPD for over 3 years and they just now shut him down. Apparently our officers aren't that smart. To top it off the guy was released on bond which means he'll never be deported.

Since you were so smart and knew they were Knock offs, why didnt you report it? The police have a lot to do (you are proabally one of the ones who call and complain about everything else under the sun). Just because you were so very smart and knew they were not real does that mean that everyone else knew it also? And since you knew, then does that make it ok for them to do it? I know people smole crack, does that mean they should be allowed to do it? Come on confused, grow up.
