Statham man indicted on child molestation

A Statham man faces the possibility of life in prison after he was indicted by a grand jury this month on charges he allegedly performed oral sex over a two-month period on a six-year-old.

According to the indictment, between Jan. 1 and March 15, Robert Green Bowman, 44, performed sexual acts on the child victim in his home at 1685 Atlanta Highway in Statham.

He was arrested March 23 following a criminal investigation on two counts aggravated child molestation, two counts aggravated sodomy, two counts aggravated sexual battery, six counts child molestation and two counts cruelty to children in the first degree. He was released on $25,000 bond.

Bowman’s arraignment is scheduled for July 21 in Barrow County Superior Court

That sicko is out because our liberal DA who was put in office by defense lawyers won't or can't do his job and won't fight for victims. It makes me wish we had Madison back.

Bond is set by the Superior Court Judges not the District Attorney. This man being released had nothing to do with the District Attorney. Superior Court Judges are elected too. Maybe understand the judicial system before you post comments.

This makes me really sick knowing that this man is out and free to rome the streets and do what he wants to. I know this story personally and I am a very pissed off mother to know that he is able to be around our children and the sad thing is the "LAW" is allowing him to do so and there is nothing that we can do... I agree with James, they throw and man that gets behind on child support and they lock him up, but we got this piece of crap that don't work and has nothing to contribuate to society and they let him run free. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO????

The person that bailed him out I am sure was a family member that is thinking in there mind he didn't do it.. he couldn't have done it. But what if it had been there child this was done to. I can't believe that they would have even set a bond for someone like this. Thanks to to the DA and the judicial system for protecting our children. HAHA you guys are a joke.

So where is this pervert living?? I wonder if he is around children again?? I worder to the neighbors know that he is living there. There are just so many questions left unanswered.

1) See comment 4.2. The District Attorney had nothing to do with this man getting a bond. "They" is one of the Superior Court judges.
2) While one of the Superior Court judges did set a $25k bond for this man, I would assume that he at least made one of the conditions of that bond that this man not be allowed to be around children.
2) The DA's office is prosecuting this man and trying to get him off the streets - hence attempting to protect the children of Barrow County.
3) The DA's office recently put a man away for life who committed similar acts as this man. How exactly does that make the DA's office a joke?
4) It is their not there, and it is wonder not worder.

First of all An Informed Citizen---- I know this case on a personal note and the only conditions that was set for him and being around children is that he can't be around children under the age of 16 with out a parent present. WOW what is that going to protect. A parent cant keep a watch on there children 24/7 and as far as you correcting the spelling of things, GET A LIFE!!!

I also know this case and the District Attorney's office opposed bond. They did not want this man out. A bond was set over their objection.
