A 22-year-old Winder man was arrested by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office on May 19 and charged with allegedly making sexual contact with students he lured through Facebook.
Officers charged Anthony Michael McInnis with two felony counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, two misdemeanor counts contributing to delinquency of a minor, one felony count child molestation, one felony count aggravated child molestation, one misdemeanor count sexual battery, and one felony count aggravated sodomy.
The situation came to light after a Russell Middle School Resource Officer (SRO) learned that several students had been texting and meeting McInnis on Facebook. The SRO contacted BCSO investigators in reference to a report of alleged child molestation.
During an interview last week, a 13-year-old girl told a school mentor that a black male was making contact with several Russell Middle School students and had also made arrangements to meet and pick up two of the girls.
This is happening more and more under the noses of the PD and school authorities.
