Winder man killed in wreck

A 31-year-old Winder resident died Friday afternoon in a collision with a large truck on Highway 11 South just past the Winder Corners Shopping Center, according to a press release from the Winder Police Department.

Andrew Christopher Stevens, a long-time resident of the city, was ejected from a Ford Explorer in the May 20 collision that occurred at 5:30 p.m. with an eighteen-wheeler that was pulling heavy construction equipment. Stevens died at the scene.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

My thoughts and prayers are with Andy's family. May God place his hand on their hearts during this trying time. Andy was a great person and will always have the great memories.
