Two Barrow County government meetings are scheduled tonight at 7 and are open to the public.
The Barrow County Board of Commissioners meets at the administration building on East Broad Street. At the top of that meeting agenda is a presentation by a representative of Geer & Associates Inc., which audited the county’s FY2010 financial statements.
Other items on the agenda include:
• a request by CFO Rose Kisaalita for a new position of Accountant-Budget Analyst in the Finance Department. That position would replace the Internal Auditor position formerly held by Marilyn Golightly, who retired.
• a request for approval of a road patching contract in preparation for the resurfacing of 1.96 miles of Bill Rutledge Road, 1.6 miles of Giles Road, one mile of Tom Miller Road, and one mile of Sims Road. The lowest bid of $400,701 was from Baldwin Paving Inc.
• a request for approval of an intergovernmental agreement to have Barrow County Board of Elections and Registration conduct the municipal elections for the Town of Bethlehem at a cost to the town of $1 per active registered voter.
• and appointments to an Insurance Committee.
The other meeting tonight will be the first public input session on possible changes to the governing authority in Barrow County.
That meeting of the BOC’s newly appointed Charter Review Committee will be at the Auburn City Hall, which is adjacent to the Auburn Police Department.
