The 22nd annual “Give Burns the Boot” drive, benefiting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, begins Friday, May 6, and continues on May 20 and 28, as well, Barrow County officials said last week.
Barrow County Emergency Services is one of more than 100 fire departments statewide joining forces to support the burn foundation, whose mission is to partner with the fire service and burn care community to provide fire safety and prevention education, support medical facilities and assist burn survivors in their recovery.

I will send my money straight to the burn foundation office. I remember how our Barrow firefighters use the money they collect!

Well, Thanks for supporting the burn foundation. If you do not believe your moneys will be taken care of by all means please send money to the burn foundation. They are a great entity to the state as well as Barrow County. Every year they put on a burn camp for burn survivors at Fort Yargo and they also support the burn centers across the state. If needed the address to the Georgia Firefighter's Burn Foundation is:
2575 Chantilly Dr.
Atlanta, GA 30324
Even more please call them and ask about Barrow County Fire Department and the support we give them and moneys we raise. Please don't allow past chief's mistakes skew your view of the fire department. And if they do I apologize.
Don't worry, I gave enough for me and that fool ;)

I always wonder what would happen to me if I stood out in the middle of the road asking for money in my shoe. Its dangerous for anyone to stand there and impede traffic.I do not put a penny in the boot and do not appreciate the pandering as I sit waiting on the light to turn....
I know if anyone else did this, they would go to jail. Its double standards to allow ANYBODY to beg for money in the middle of traffic.
The beautiful thing about this event is the choice you have to keep driving by and with that attitude and view on what we are out trying to do, I am glad that you do. There are plenty of others who are caring and compassionate enough to give toward the cause we participate for. Heaven forbid we keep you from your ever-so-important schedule. I was not aware that standing in the street was against the law, maybe you could enlighten us? As for the rest of the community, we thank you for your participation and we appreciate your willingness to help us continue to help others.

Go stand in the middle of the road at any intersection in downtown Winder and wave your shoe around asking for money from passing cars and see how long it takes for SEVERAL police cars to show up. You would be booked and arrested for your behavior before you could bat an eye.
