The Winder City Council on Tuesday agreed to spend about $60,000 to install 12,500 feet of natural gas main along the rights of way of Highway 11, Hancock Bridge Road and Pleasant Hill Church Road in Barrow County.
Mike Jewell, the manager of the Gas Department, told the council that some 4-inch gas main already is in the ground in that area from a project that was interrupted by the economic downturn.
He said that project needs to be completed so that the city can provide natural gas service to a poultry farm and other customers who want it.

Why should we be held hostage to the City of Winder as our only NG provider?
