The Winder City Council’s regular monthly meetings are this afternoon and tomorrow.
On the agenda for today’s 5:30 p.m. work session and Tuesday’s 6 p.m. voting session are at least of couple of items of significant public interest.
The first is a proposed code revision to allow owners of agriculturally zoned parcels at least five acres in size to house domestic fowl on their properties. The Winder Planning Board has made no recommendation on the proposed ordinance.
The other item is a request by a local businessman to extend the hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages in the city.
Also at today’s meeting, Lisa Maloof of Lanier Technical College will make a presentation.
At tomorrow’s meeting, there will be presented by city staff a financial report, police report and fire report. Votes will be taken on the following items:
• Bid approval for Jackson Street demolition project.
• Bid approval for utility relocations on Hwy. 211.
• Bid approval for the installation of a gas main on Hwy. 211.
• Appointments to the Piedmont Regional Library.
• A beer permit by the package permit for the Kangaroo station at 93 E. May St.
• The domestic fowl ordinance.
• Surplus breathing air equipment.
• A retirement addendum.
• An event permit for a carnival.
• A convenience fee for credit card payments.
• A contract for the police evidence building.
Following the council meeting Tuesday evening, the council will adjourn and then reconvene as the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The ZBA will consider a conditional use for a childcare facility to be located at 88 McNeal Road. The application is by Andrea King and the property is owned by James F. Odum Jr. The site is about one-half acre in size and is zoned B-1 Neighborhood Commercial.
