City of Statham officials will decide whether to move forward with filing lawsuits against residents who are chronically delinquent with paying their taxes, business licenses fees and water bills.
Attorney Thomas Mitchell told council members during Thursday’s work session he would ask for a vote at Tuesday’s meeting to authorize him to move forward with the measure in hopes of gaining the back fees.
“We have three or four accounts that are very delinquent,” Mitchell said. “There is one in particular who has not paid anything in years. I think if you sue one then the others will fall in compliance.”
