A local committee to study Barrow County’s form of government could be operational within three weeks.
District 3 Commissioner Steve Worley said Monday that he would ask the Barrow County Board of Commissioners at its next meeting on April 12 to immediately appoint seven members. Those members then would meet within two weeks to fill the final two seats and to elect a committee chairman and secretary.
If the BOC takes action next week, Worley said he thinks the review process will get back on track and the committee will have enough time to conduct the public process and still meet the original Aug. 23 deadline for submitting written recommendations.

The present County Commission has been a wonder of dysfunction for the past two years. I'm not optimistic about any crowd they would appoint being helpful for the future of the county.

They are lining up now, the Buy Here / Pay Here Used Car dealers, Title Pawns, Fast food Chicken franchises and "Good People" Developers. You can be sure the County's interest is the last thing on the BOC's mind. After all, "They are not accountable to anyone"
