The City of Winder honored lifetime residents Larry and Dorothy “Dot” Jones for their contributions to the community as both business owners and good Samaritans on Monday, March 21, at a ceremony downtown.
Last month, Jones, owner of Larry’s Furniture, was named Barrow County Chamber of Commerce’s Shining Star.
The city named the gazebo and grassy area in honor of the couple.
Mayor Chip Thompson read a proclamation and unveiled a plaque dedicating the area Jones Park.
Several community members expressed their gratitude for the couple’s good deeds.
“We are grateful and proud beyond words,” Jones told the crowd.
