Benefit car show coming to Winder airport April 2

The “all makes, models and styles” show is from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is sponsored by Scatt’s Automotive in Winder.

The Winder Police Department will be on hand with a “Drunk Goggles” DUI golf-cart course. Drivers don goggles that make things appear like they would if the driver was drunk. He or she then tries to navigate a course of orange cones to experience the effect of drinking on driving.

Winder officers will also lend support by providing food and snacks for the event. Wayne Samples is offering up his famous BBQ and PoPo Peanuts, Joey Lovingood’s hot boiled peanuts, will be for sale.

The Apalachee High School ROTC will provide security and airport personnel will be on hand to ensure that attendees don’t gain access to the runways, hangars or planes.

“The Tree House helped my youngest daughter some years ago, so anything we can do to help, we will,” she said.
Admission to the show is free. There is no entry fee to display a vehicle; to register for judging and prizes, a $15 entry fee will be charged. For more information or to pre-register, call Scatt’s Automotive at 678-425-9595. Registration can also be done the day of the show.
