Barrow County’s legislative delegation Monday submitted to the Georgia General Assembly legislation that could eventually change the balance of power on the Barrow County Board of Commissioners and redefine the role of the county chairman.
The legislation creates a committee of 13 people to review the county government structure and to make recommendations back to the delegation within 75 days. After hearing from the committee, the delegation — Rep. Terry England, Rep. Tommy Benton and Sen. Frank Ginn — will decide what, if any action should be taken. They won't be bound by the committee's recommendations, but would presumably use that as a guide in drafting plans for any new county government structure.
