Man gets 20 years for child rape

A Barrow County man was sentenced in Superior Court last week to 20 years in prison for the rape of a child.

Ruben Mercado was convicted on six counts of aggravated sodomy, two counts rape, three counts child molestation, and first degree cruelty to children. He was sentenced to 20 years confinement, 20 years probation, no contact with victim(s) and all sex offender special conditions including registering as a sex offender.

I cant believe this animal got off so easy...20 years? WHAT? It should have been LIFE AT LEAST.

Execution should have been an option...people get more time robbing banks. This judge is a JOKE!@

Anybody know who the judge was ?, I would like to see his name in print beside the rapists, that way at least we would know to vote against him next time he is up for election.

I think he should've goten a whole lot wrost then what he got.Thats bull u know what I mean...See now it's up to me an her mother to deal with this maddness...There's other kids that got beaten up in the same house...These kids are my step kids and i love them like there mine, and the time they give him....IS NOTHING...my children have to live with this for the rest of there life's. The boy's may get over it but my little lady will never beable to get over it and live a nomal life... thank you for listening from my familly to your hope this never happen to you... p.s how come drug dealer's get life but a child raper get less time food for thought...........
