Vacant house burns Sunday night

A house at 733 Harrison Mill Road was destroyed by fire Sunday night, according to Barrow County Emergency Services.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours in a “defensive” mode of operation, said Lt. Scott Dakin.

The house had been vacant for several years and nobody was injured in the incident.

An investigation into the fire is ongoing.

Engines 3 and 1, Med 3, Ladder 7 and Battalion 1 responded to the blaze.

Smoke and flames were reportedly visible from Hwy. 316, resulting in a number of 911 calls.
