Saying he has worked for two years to keep the fiscal burden of the county government off the backs of taxpayers, Barrow County Commission Chairman Danny Yearood told the Barrow County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday that his job isn’t done.
If anything, he said in his annual State of the County address, the challenge this year and next will be even tougher.
Last year, he said, was marked by rising unemployment rates and decreasing tax revenues as well as bank failures and the continuing mortgage crisis.
Despite additional cutbacks last year, the county is facing today, as it did at the time of last year’s State of the County address, a $1 million budget shortfall that may lead to “unpopular fiscal decisions,” he said.
“We will prosper again,” Yearwood said. “Tax revenue will increase and unprecedented growth will again propel this county to one of the fastest growing counties in the country.”

All Yearwood is doing is trying to position himself to run again in 2012 and "claim" to done all that is possible to balance the budget.
Remember his actions that lead the county to hire a private investigator? Remember the investigator found Yearwood needed to attend anger management classes?
Think about all the lawsuits and how much money the have cost and are still costing the county.
