Residents of Auburn could soon see a boom in quality rental properties, including senior housing and mixed used development in Auburn Station.
Planning and Zoning Director Larry Lucas presented a six-month outline Tuesday for the city to join forces with the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH), in order to target three key areas for housing development in the city.
Lucas told attendees his main question was “what do we want for housing in Auburn?”
The answer? Housing that attracts those of higher income, said Lucas.
Coming up will be a plan identifying three major objectives, Lucas told council members. These objectives include finding solutions for suitable rental options or replacing trailers, nurturing mixed use development in Auburn Station and creating senior housing.
