Two Statham residents reported that two men in an unmarked gray van were in their neighborhoods last week reportedly trying to sell security systems. Both residents said they had received an earlier email warning about people selling security systems and were concerned.
A Cavern Springs Drive woman reported that an unmarked gray van was parked in front of her house, according to an incident report filed with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office. She said two black males rang her doorbell and were trying to sell her alarm systems.
She said she had received an email awhile back that warned of people pretending to sell alarm systems and she was concerned that the males would return to break into her home. The officer advised several preventative steps the woman could take to make her home less of a target for burglaries. The officer patrolled the area but was unable to locate the gray van.
In another report, woman who resides off Bear Creek Road reported that a gray mini van pulled into her driveway and two black males exited the vehicle and knocked on her front door.
She stated she did not answer the door because she had earlier been warned by neighbors that males in a gray mini van were going door to door attempting to give away security systems, and once gaining entry to the residence, would steal items. A report was written and no further action was taken.
