Officers from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots fired call on Baylor Drive on Jan. 15 A woman advised police that her neighbor had shot approximately five times, and that the neighborhood has had problems with the man shooting in the past.
Police went to the residence in question and spoke with the homeowner William Scott.
Scott admitted that he was shooting firearms in his back yard, and while being questioned police noticed the mans speech was slurred and his eyes were red.
When asked if he had been drinking Scott said, “yes” that he had approximately four mixed drinks and he had also smoked marijuana. Police noticed while speaking with Scott a bong for smoking marijuana on the table in the living room and also a 12-guage shotgun leaning against a corner.
Scott was asked if he had any more guns in the residence and he told police “yes” and supplied them with a 9mm pistol an AR15 rifle and a 22 caliber rifle.
Scott said that his children were in the other room and because they were minors Scott’s ex-wife was called to pick up the children.
Scott was placed under arrest for discharging a firearm while intoxicated.
He was then transported to the Barrow County Detention Center without further incident.
