Creel featured in national magazine

The emphasis Creel has placed on the expectation that every student will graduate was also noted and a description of the way she encourages students and teachers to make the year each class will graduate a mental reality, rather than simply an idea, is touched upon. The example was that students in kindergarten this year are taught from day one to embrace the idea that they are “The Class of 2023.”

Consistency from school to school is another plan Creel has been implementing since she became the superintendent in April 2010. One way this is achieved, the article states, is with systemwide “Walkthroughs.” This involves a “quality assessment team” of teachers, administrators and principals visiting classrooms in every school to observe and give feedback every nine weeks.

In the article Creel credits school system staff and her administrative team as being integral to making strides towards system-wide success.

“I am just so pleased and proud that our school system was chosen for this feature in a national education magazine,” Creel said. “I hope that it serves as affirmation for our students, staff, parents and community that our schools are continuing to make great strides in instructional practices and increasing student achievement.”
