Bankhead Highway has been closed temporarily from Pierce Road to Cedar Creek Road following a collision between a passenger vehicle and a train car, according to a media alert from Barrow County Emergency Services.
The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20.
"A passenger vehicle has collided with a train car that was on a side spur of the rail tracks," states the alert.
"Firefighters from Barrow County Emergency Services are working with representatives from Stepan in removing the passenger vehicle and train car from the scene."
Stepan Co. is a manufacturer of "specialty and intermediate chemicals used in consumer products and industrial applications," according to the company's web site.
The Winder plant is at 951 Bankhead Hwy.
