Complaints about a loud party at a residence on Cooks Road in Barrow County led to the arrest of 20 young people early Saturday morning.
Reports said neighbors called deputies multiple times between 3:40 and 4:05 Saturday morning complaining of excessive noise coming from a party at a home on Cooks Road.
Another resident also called Barrow County deputies to report picking up a 17-year old Norcross girl walking barefoot on Hwy. 211 near Cooks Road and giving her a ride to the Easy Buy store at Hwy. 11.
Law enforcement arrived at the Cooks Road home, but found a red cattle gate closed, blocking access to the driveway.
Deputies spoke with a 17-year-old girl who was walking to her car. They smelled alcohol on her and arrested her. According to the report, numerous beer cans and bottles were strewn about the property.
A young male asleep on a couch inside did not respond to deputies knocking on the doors.
Cpl. Ernie Ruark pushed on the front door and entered the home. However, it took several minutes of Ruark shaking the man on the couch before he woke up.
Deputies then found 12 people hiding in one bedroom and 14 hiding in another. Only 10 were able to provide identification. Four people were older than 21, deputies said, and those younger were required to provide samples for a portable Breathalyzer device.
A total of 20 people were transported to the Barrow County detention center and charged with consumption by a minor, reports indicated.
Zachery Wayne Braswell, 18, Joshua David Mazzotti, 19, and Matthew John Wittman, 20, all of Cook Road were among those arrested.
Those three were the only Barrow County residents arrested. The remainder were mostly from Gwinnett and Hall counties.
I don't agree with underage drinking, but more evil is the Deputies who think they can do "what ever, when ever" attitude. Come on Jud a Document wrote in 1776 said what you can do and can not..Please adbide by it !
Once again what Exigent circumstances were present that did not allow to get a warrant?
Also.." those younger were required to provide samples for a portable Breathalyzer device.". Required...??? Where does it say you are "required" to in your or some one else's home ??
Again I do not agree with underage drinking..but even worst is the deputies who don't practice the same laws they swore to up hold its truly a " us Vs. them" attitude.
