Relay for Life sponsor announced

The Barrow County Relay For Life committee announces Community Bank & Trust of Winder will be the presenting sponsor for the 2011 Relay For Life.

Gloria Foley, branch manager and AVP urges other local companies to help support the fight against cancer in Barrow County by becoming sponsors of this year’s 14th Annual Relay For Life.

“Cancer touches everyone, and involvement in Relay For Life is a great way for a company to demonstrate commitment to helping the American Cancer Society save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays,” Foley said. “Many options for corporations are available along with sponsorships.”

Businesses can form a team; provide in-kind donations of goods; purchase event sponsor signs for track display or encourage employees to volunteer at the event.

In Barrow County and nearly 5,100 other communities around the globe, Relay For Life unites people to celebrate the lives of those who have faced cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease. Relay For Life, the world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, continues to grow each year and you are invited to take part this year for the 2011 Relay For Life.

The kick-off celebration will take place on Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Winder First United Methodist Church beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a light meal and then at 6 p.m. with an informational program. The kickoff will serve as a pep rally for the event and provide more information to team captains, team members and participants who will play an important role in fundraising efforts.
