Auburn alert: vehicle fire

Putting out a vehicle fire at County Line-Auburn Road and Mary Carter Road has added to the icy condition of the roads, and Barrow County Emergency Services is urging motorists to avoid the area.

"Due to firefighting activity, the County Line-Auburn Road from Fourth Avenue to Mary Carter Road has become extremely dangerous," states a 1:11 p.m. media alert.

"It is covered in ice and citizens are strongly urged to avoid this stretch of road completely. Auburn Public Works has been notified of the situation."

The fire was reported by a passerby, and county firefighters arrived to find the pick-up truck heavily involved in flames, the press release states.
