The Barrow County Farm Bureau (BCFB) was recognized as one of the top county Farm Bureau programs in the state during the 72nd Annual GFB Convention held recently on Jekyll Island.
The county chapter was named a finalist for the prestigious McKemie Award — the highest honor that a county Farm Bureau in the state can receive — in recognition of the activities it sponsored during the past year to promote agriculture.
“We appreciate the numerous activities Barrow County Farm Bureau has conducted during the past year to increase awareness of agriculture in your community and your commitment to our state organization,” GFB President Zippy Duvall said.
BCFB was one of nine county Farm Bureaus to be recognized as a finalist in the 3,000 plus-member category. Ray Fowler is president of the Barrow County Farm Bureau. Earlier this fall, BCFB won the GFB 4th District Awards for its young farmer and promotion and education committees.
