A 55-year-old man drowned on the lake at Fort Yargo state park on Saturday.
The man was fishing in a small boat when it capsized causing him to fall into the water.
The man could not swim and began splashing and yelling for help.
A woman and her husband heard his shouts, called 911 and began rowing toward him in a boat of their own while DNR officers also responded.
It was discovered the man was not wearing a life jacket and it took several people to get him into another boat.
A witness reported the man’s face was already blue by the time they were able to get him into a boat and row him ashore.
Winder Police, Fire, and EMT units arrived within minutes to the scene where they began CPR to try and resuscitate the man.
He was immediately transported to Barrow Regional Medical center where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the man’s name or information at this time.
