Winder’s annual Christmas parade is Saturday, and it will be bigger than ever.
About 90 floats, bands, beauties and community groups are joining the holiday celebration that kicks off at 4 p.m. and continues until about 7 p.m. at the Winder Community Center.
Leading the parade as grand marshal will be Buzz Lightyear from the movie, “Toy Story.”
And in a horse-drawn carriage at the end of the parade will be jolly old Saint Nick.
“It’s a special deal geared for the kids, and they will get excited at the beginning of the parade and get excited again at the end,” said John Janick, a Winder resident who for the past year has organized the city’s major community events.
Kids also should be on the lookout for Fort Yargo State Park’s float, which will feature that old holiday nemesis, the Grinch, and will be among 30 floats in the parade.
