Barrow County Sheriff’s Officers were dispatched to an accident report on Highway 211 Nov. 14 which led to a DUI arrest.
Upon arrival officers found an overturned Ford Explorer lying on the left side of the road and discovered skid marks moving across the street.
The driver, Richard Slizewski, was found relatively unharmed minus an abrasion from the seatbelt. It was raining on the night of the accident and Slizewski was asked to sit in the patrol car at which time the responding officer noticed Slizewski’s eyes were blurry and his speech was slurred.
The officer questioned Slizewski about alcohol consumption and he told the officer he had a beer and one shot earlier in the evening.
After failing a field sobriety test, Slizewski was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, and driving too fast for conditions.
At the station, Slizewski tested positive for alcohol on the breathalyzer.
