A man was arrested while trying to shoplift several food items on Nov 12.
Officers responded to a report of possible shoplifting at the N. Broad Street Ingles supermarket.
When officers arrived on the scene they were told a man was taking food and other items from his cart into the men’s restroom.
Police stood outside the door until the man in suspicion exited the restroom, at which time police identified him as David Miller.
Miller was asked if he could be searched for the officer’s safety, at which time it was discovered Miller had three DVDs in his pocket along with Trident gum. Miller was also found wearing a bag under his sweatshirt which contained two bottles of soda and one bottle of diet soda. Other items found on Miller included headphones, tweezers, glue and cookies.
Miller explained it was his birthday, and that he was just “picking up some items.”
Officers placed him under arrest for shoplifting.
