The Barrow County Superior Court recently sentenced the following people. Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Oct. 21, 2010 with Superior Court Judge T. Penn McWhorter presiding:
•Mac Lee, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana: 12 months to serve with credit for time served.
•Christopher Kaul, driving while license suspended and obstruction: two years probation less 18 days confinement and a $500 fine.
•Charlie Hobbs, criminal trespass and giving false information to a law enforcement officer: 30 days confinement, 11 months probation, 200 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine.
•Kayla Marie Altherton, obstruction: 12 months probation, 60 hours of community service and a $750 fine. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor: 12 months probation less ten days confinement and a $250 fine.
•James Donald Bentley, two counts of deposit account fraud: 12 months probation, restitution and a $500 fine.
•Jason Wehunt, DUI drugs, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, safety belt violation and headlight requirement violation: 12 months probation less 24 hours confinement, 60 hours of community service and a $2,086 fine. Two counts of child endangerment: nolle prosequi.
•Logan Darrell Cronic, criminal trespass: 12 months probation, restitution and a $500 fine.
•Lorena Landeros, battery: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
•Dremessia Coursey, affray: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Oct. 27, 2010 with Superior Court Judge Currie Mingledorff presiding:
•Forest Demetrius Eberhart, driving while license suspended: five years probation and a $1,000 fine. Possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, tampering with evidence, two counts obstruction and expired tag: nolle prosequi.
•Samuel Charles Westbury, possession of hydrocodone and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana: five years probation less 35 days confinement with credit for time served, 40 hours of community service and a $1,750 fine. Possession of alprazolam, drugs to be kept in original container, possession of drug related objects and open container: nolle prosequi.
•Andy Belvie Knight, possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana: first offender treatment, four years probation and a $1,500 fine.
•Edward Peach, theft by taking motor vehicle: four years in jail, two years probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Brandi Skinner, disorderly conduct: 14 days in jail.
•Georgiana Mae Womble, theft by receiving: 38 days in jail, four years plus ten months and 22 days probation, restitution and a $1,000 fine.
•Janet Smith, keeping a gambling place: 12 months probation and a $750 fine. Commercial gambling: nolle prosequi.
•Julie Bennett, child abandonment: 12 months probation and a $500 fine suspended upon payment of past due child support.
•Tiffani Ann Brown, possession of methamphetamine: ten years probation less 14 days in jail with credit for time served and a $2,000 fine. Window tint violation: nolle prosequi.
•Holly Evans, sale of clonazepam: six to eight months in a detention center suspended upon successful completion of intensive probation, ten years probation with credit for time previously served on probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Holly Crowe, drugs to be kept in original container: 12 months probation and a $500 fine. Criminal trespass and family violence battery: two years probation and a $1,000 fine.
