A concerned citizen contacted Auburn Police last week after witnessing a drug deal on Main Street.
The citizen, who had contacted Auburn Police earlier that day for the same reason, reported seeing one of the male subjects involved in the drug deal enter a Main Street residence after the transaction.
Officers were dispatched to the area and saw a white male later identified as Stephen Christopher Brooks, 23, of 64 Main Street in Auburn, walking towards the residence specified by the concerned citizen.
An officer questioned Brooks and asked who else lived in the residence. Brooks advised that his sister and wife were the only people currently at the home.
When one of the officers went to the residence to confirm Brooks’ statement, the officer saw Adam Winston Coursey, 30, of 64 Main Street in Auburn, run out the back door of the home. The officer pursued Coursey and, with the help of another officer, apprehended him without incident.
While two of the officers dealt with Coursey, another officer continued to question Brooks. When asked if he had any weapons or contraband on his person, Brooks said “Well, yeah.” An officer searched Brooks’ clothing and found a small metal container in his pocket. The container held a substance which appeared to be methamphetamine.
Brooks claimed he found the narcotics on the ground.
Brooks was charged with possession of methamphetamine and Coursey was charged with obstruction.
Both men were transported to the Barrow County Detention Center without incident.
Other recent arrests by Auburn Police include:
•Reba Janene Gray, 50, 124 Elk Grove Drive, Auburn, possession of methamphetamine.
•Vincent Wayne Wallace, 17, 316 Carter Road, Lot 117, Auburn, two counts VGCSA.
•Suzi Daree Daniel, 24, 137 Creekwood Court, Winder, outstanding warrant.
Drug dealers and users should not be alive to breathe the same air as the rest of us.
