One patient was life-flighted after an early morning accident on Hwy. 81 near Tanners Bridge Road.
Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said two vehicles were involved in the accident which took place at approximately 6:50 a.m. this morning.
According to the investigating trooper, a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Sonda Lachelle Randolph, 40, of Monroe, pulled into the path of a 2003 Nissan Altima which was traveling northbound on Hwy. 81.
A passenger in Randolph’s car, Deneisha Kyontae Edwards, 20, of Conyers, was airlifted to Grady with a head injury, Wright said. Edwards, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was ejected on impact.
Randolph and another passenger, Lavonia Edwards, 22, of Monroe, were taken to Walton Medical. The driver of the Altima, Isela M. Trujillo, 20, of Bethlehem, and a passenger - Daniel Trujillo, 24, also of Bethlehem - were driven to Gwinnett Medical Center. All four were transported by private passenger vehicle.
Randolph was charged with failure to yield.
