The Barrow County Superior Court recently sentenced the following people. Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Oct. 4 and Oct. 8, 2010 with Superior Court Judge T. Penn McWhorter presiding:
•Jacqueline R. Richardson, DUI less safe pled to lesser included offense of reckless driving and expired tag: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a $1,250 fine. DUI: nolle prosequi.
•Robert Wilson, reckless conduct: 12 months probation and a $500 fine. Aggravated assault: nolle prosequi.
•Andria L. Whipple, obstruction: 12 months probation and a $300 fine.
•Edward Doyle White, theft by receiving and theft by deception: 30 days confinement with credit for time served, two years probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Michael Jeremy Pierce, disorderly conduct: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
•William Alexander, family violence battery and family violence simple battery: 30 days confinement with credit for time served, two years probation, 40 hours of community service and a $1,250 fine.
•Luis Angel Gonzalez, disorderly conduct and obstruction: 22 days confinement with credit for time served, 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $1,000 fine.
•Tonya Marie Hampton, VGCSA: five years probation less ten days confinement and a $2,000 fine.
•Jasmine Aricia Rodriguez, party to the crime of first degree forgery: first offender treatment, five years probation less 24 days confinement with credit for time served, 60 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine.
•Francis Louise Wood Butler, theft by taking and possession of methamphetamine: ten years probation, restitution and a $2,000 fine.
•Julie Ann Arroyo, battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $500 fine. Giving false name, weaving over roadway and driving without a license: 12 months probation and a $1,265 fine. Two counts theft by taking: ten years probation and a $2,000 fine.
•Paula Mae Hudgens, theft by receiving stolen property: two years to serve suspended upon completion of six months intensive probation, ten years probation, Moral Reconation Therapy, restitution and a $1,500 fine.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Oct. 5, 2010 with Superior Court Judge Currie Mingledorff presiding:
•Misty Dunagan, theft by shoplifting, criminal trespass, no insurance and driving while license suspended: two years probation and a $1,500 fine. Possession of alprazolam: five years probation and a $1,000 fine. Sale of alprazolam: three years suspended upon successful completion of two years at New Beginnings, ten years probation and a $1,000 fine. Drugs not in original container and additional count of driving while license suspended: nolle prosequi.
•Derrick Jermaine Ansley, distribution of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a housing project: three years suspended upon ten months confinement (already served) and suspended upon successful completion of intensive probation and 12 months with ankle monitor, 20 years probation and a $1,000 fine. Sale of hydrocodone: nolle prosequi.
•William Monroe Smith, two counts burglary: six years suspended upon completion of residential substance abuse treatment program and acceptance into and completion of drug court, 20 years probation, $250 in restitution and a $1,000 fine. Two counts theft by taking and obstruction: nolle prosequi.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Oct. 13, 2010 with Superior Court Judge David Motes presiding:
•Jeremy Robert Haney, two counts VGCSA and violation of oath by a public officer: first offender treatment, three years to serve suspended upon successful completion of Barrow County Drug Court, 15 years probation, 200 hours of community service and a $6,000 fine.
•Daria Dwight Thacker, theft by taking: two years to serve suspended upon completion of six months intensive probation, complete ten years probation, complete Moral Reconation Therapy, restitution and a $1,500 fine.
•Quante Kenyata Reese, second degree forgery: first offender treatment, serve 29 days with credit for time served, five years probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Eric Wilson Tanner, aggravated battery pled to lesser included offense of aggravated assault: one year to serve with credit for time served, nine years probation, restitution and a $2,000 fine. Family violence battery and interference with a 911 call: one year to serve with credit for time served, four years probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Michael Dean Tomes, sale of marijuana: two years to serve suspended upon completion of 180-240 days in detention center program (can wait out of custody for bed space on intensive probation), ten years probation and a $1,500 fine.
•Adam Hudson, theft by taking pled to lesser included offense of theft by receiving stolen property: 12 months probation less 60 days confinement and a $500 fine.
•Shake Denard Bolton, theft by taking, criminal trespass and giving false name to a law enforcement officer: three years probation, restitution and a $1,000 fine.
•Tracie Hope Cartwright, child abandonment: 12 months probation.
•Evelyn Darlene Lander, obstruction: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
