Two adults and three children were injured in an accident involving a school bus this afternoon in Statham.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident which occurred just after 4:15 p.m. this afternoon on Atlanta Highway near Wall Road.

According to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright, a Jeep Liberty driven by Tiffany Holcomb, 24, of Statham, struck the rear of the bus while it was stopped to unload children. The lights on the bus were activated at the time of the crash, Wright said.

Holcomb was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The injured children – Morgan Ridgeway, Erica Dean and Isaac Armstrong - were transported to Barrow Regional Medical Center. Bus driver Evelyn Rabi was treated at the scene and released.

Fourteen children were on the bus at the time of the collision.

Wright said Holcomb will be charged with following too closely.

From the way the jeep looked it looks like she wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings and i am just glad everybody is going to be ok.

Happened at 4:15??? Why did the Ambulance pass us off of Pickle Simon Road at 5:35pm as we were heading to Athens? The weird part was the Ambulance didn't turn on its sirens until it was passing by us???

Ever think maybe Barrow has more than one Ambulance. And that maybe more than one call happens each day.

There was a second ambulance call dispatched to the scene later on after someone decided that they might need to go & get checked out. Better safe than sorry. The EMS did a great job. The lights & sirens were not going because it was not life threatening.

I pray for her..But,how can you miss a "Big Yellow
School bus with Flashing lights"..

Glad the kids are ok.and I pray for the driver of the jeep.

May be Brad Hamilton is her Boyfriend,..I have no clue how you can not see the school bus..But,is nice to know that no one got killed and I will send my prayers to the driver and her family..may she have a speedy recovery...

No Brad Hamilton is NOT her and no she was not texting. Last time I checked this was a newspaper forum not a message board for immature mudslinging drama. That is what is wrong with society everyone is so negative about people and situations that they know nothing about. Perhaps Mr. Hamilton may have information that others do not, have you thought about that? I suggest you find another site for your negativity maybe your middle school has a message board or something oh and

I just want to understand how can you not see a BIG YELLOW BUS WITH FLASHING LIGHTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY?..thats all I want to understand..I;m a mother and my child rides school bus.When I hear stories like these,it worries me.If it happen it could happen again..

Glad to hear children are good.I hope that the driver is recovering and I hope all is well.

Well, you must like to tell others what to do. That's what people do when they blog....ask questions, assume things, and apparently you must know the driver of that Jeep, and if she was texting I am pretty sure she would not admit it, cuz that's what humans do, lie. Why do you think the court rooms are full, one of the two parties is lying, if humans would just tell the truth, we would not have plaintiffs and defendants. Oh, and we would not have lawyers.....that would be just peachy. Have a nice day and relax, this to shall pass.

How do you hit a school bus.? Hard to miss you can spot it a mile away.I seen the photo.The driver must have been speeding as well.
The driver needs to get a School Bus Safety class.and maybe get her eyes examine.Good thing no one was killed..I wish the driver to recovery and hopefully this will teach her and others to stop being reckless drivers or stupid drivers around our children...

I want the sheriff or who ever in charge to ask this young person ,what the heck happen.I can understand a deer jump in or brake failing ..But a bus full of kids?have common sense to slow down.
Look ahead.a kid could have been crossing and it could have been kill..
My child rides the school bus like 70 percent of Barrow school kids.Pay attention! is not hard ..

God was taking care of those children and driver that day.I'm proud of the emergency crew who worked so hard to save the life of the driver.
We have no clue what happen and only god and the driver knows the truth.
I just hope this person is alive and healthy and her family around her to love her..What happen could have been horrible .I hope you learn from this unwelcome situation and apply caution behind the wheel and especially around children.Bless you and bless the poor school bus driver that I bet must be a nervous wreck and the children in the bus.

all three of those kids go to my school Morgan is my close friend. when i heard that she got hurt i was really scared but now she is back at school and is doing very well thank you for caring:)
