Homeless man arrested for trespassing in vacant home

An officer was conducting a check on a vacant Wade Street residence when he noticed one of the doors had a broken window. When the officer reached through the window and attempted to open the door, he heard someone ask “What’s going on?”

After identifying himself as law enforcement, the officer instructed the man to open the door. The man, later identified as James Albert Frazier, 63, said he could not unlock that particular door but told the officer to go to a different door.

Frazier subsequently complied with the officer’s instructions to exit the house. When asked why he was inside the vacant house, Frazier explained that he was homeless and had nowhere else to go.

Frazier was charged with entry upon property and transported with his two bags of possessions to the Barrow County Detention Center.
