The Barrow County Republican Party is urging voters to cast a ballot in the July 15 Republican primary.
The local races will have a great impact on the future and the way of life for area residents, said Barrow Republican Party chairman Ken Young.
Several races will be decided by the July 15 primary, including the race for county commission chairman.
In addition, the Republican Party is including three non-binding questions on the ballot. These are designed to gather voter input to help the local party and elected officials.
The questions are:
• Would you favor the permanent repeal of the federal estate tax (so-called ‘death tax’)?
• Should English be the official language of the State of Georgia?
• Would you favor raising any local taxes to pay Barrow’s portion of the proposed Brain Train between Atlanta and Athens?
Young encourages Republican voters to give these questions serious consideration. To vote on these questions, voters must choose a Republican Primary election ballot.
