Oct. 15 designated as ‘Pink Friday’

Winder Mayor Chip Thompson has declared Friday, Oct. 15 as “Pink Friday” in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee in Barrow County will be delivering pink bows on that day to Winder businesses. Relay teams from 2010 will also receive bows.

Businesses and churches in the Auburn, Statham or Bethlehem area that would like to receive a bow should contact Beverly Jackson at 770-867-2948 or Victoria Patrick at 770-307-7956 (victoria.patrick@cancer.org).

Those receiving bows are asked to keep them on display until November 1.

What gives: It's not necessary that you have to wear pink. You can wear whatever color you want Oct 15th and you can eat what you like Oct 23rd. It's not that serious where something tragic will happen if you don't wear pink!!!!!!!!!!! If you didn't know or are not aware, here's a little insight for you. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the color happens to be pink, so wearing pink only helps people to be aware of this deadly disease. There are many women and believe it or not, men that are living with this disease,
