Annual outdoor burning ban ends

Natural vegetation such as hand piled leaves and tree limbs may be burned outdoors. Piles must be 6’x6’ or smaller. It is unlawful to burn any man made products such as tires, shingles, plastic and lumber.

Barrow County Emergency Services public information officer Lt. Scott Dakin urges citizens to use caution when burning due to ongoing dry conditions.

Dakin advised keeping water and shovels readily accessible while burning yard debris. Dakin also warned against using gasoline or other flammable liquids to ignite fires.

“We want to urge citizens to use caution whenever they are burning outdoors,” Dakin said. “We also urge citizens to take their neighbors into consideration when burning.”
