Two air conditioning units valued at $9,000 were reported stolen from Barrow County School property.
The theft occurred at a Highland Drive building owned by the school system. Two maintenance workers discovered the theft when they conducted a routine check of the building.
According to the school system employee who filed the report, the building had last been checked approximately one month prior. A storage building on the property was also damaged.
Other recent incidents investigated by Winder Police include:
•theft by taking motor vehicle on Bellview Street. A man reported that his 1997 Honda Civic was stolen while he was incarcerated. The man believes a friend of his may be responsible for the theft. The vehicle was recovered, but the steering column had been broken.
•hit and run on Springdale Drive. A parked 1997 Buick was struck during the overnight hours of Sept. 18. The vehicle had slight damage to the front passenger quarter panel of the vehicle.
•theft by taking on N. Broad Street. A security guard at Barrow Regional Medical Center reported a possible theft by a hospital employee. It was later determined the employee had been given permission to remove waterproof bed pads.
•no insurance on West Athens Street. An officer stopped a vehicle after a tag check showed the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was not insured. The driver was cited and the vehicle was impounded.
•harassment on Light House Way. A woman complained that her stepmother was harassing her about some property she and her father removed from the stepmother’s home. The stepmother and father are in the process of divorcing.
•no insurance on West Athens Street. A black Honda Accord was impounded after an officer determined the vehicle was uninsured and the registration suspended.
•criminal trespass on Tuggle Street. Tires on two vehicles were slashed and flattened. The suspect is a woman with whom the victims have an ongoing feud.
•found property on Woodlawn Avenue. A woman found a bag in the roadway. After an unsuccessful attempt to make contact with the owner, the woman turned the bag over to police.
•theft on Tuggle Street. A man reported his keys stolen. The victim left the keys on the seat of his vehicle while he went inside a store. When he returned, the keys were missing.
•found property on Langford Street. A man found several different cards inside his trash. The cards included a student identification card, a health insurance card and an Ingles advantage card. The cards were returned to the rightful owner who had last seen the cards inside his wallet.
