Man arrested with pills in pockets, weed in crotch

Samuel Charles Westbury, 21, of 222 Rainey Brooke Drive in Winder, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by a Winder police officer. The officer stopped the vehicle after two witnesses advised that Westbury had asked them if they had any pills for sale.

The driver of the vehicle said Westbury had been drinking that evening so the driver offered to take him home. When asked whether Westbury had any pills in the vehicle, the driver said he was not aware of any and gave the officer permission to search the truck.

Westbury was asked to step out of the truck and was frisked. During the pat down, the officer felt several loose pills in Westbury’s pockets. In addition to several acetaminophen tablets, Westbury had an acetaminophen/ hydrocodone bitartrate pill, a fluoxetine hydrochloride pill and eight Xanax. The officer also located a black cap stuffed with Brillo. Westbury said he used the cap and Brillo to smoke weed.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer found a corked, clear glass bottle containing a clear liquid which Westbury said was water. The officer uncorked the bottle and, due to the odor, determined the liquid inside was an alcoholic beverage.

Westbury was arrested for having pills not in their original containers, possessing drug related objects and for having an open bottle of alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.

Before transporting Westbury to jail, the officer asked if Westbury had any more drugs on his person. the officer warned Westbury that if detention center staff located any drugs on him, he would be charged with crossing the guardline with narcotics.

Westbury then admitted having marijuana hidden in his underwear “under his nuts.”

Westbury was strip searched upon his arrival at the jail. During the search, a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana fell out of Westbury’s boxers leading to an additional charge of misdemeanor marijuana possession.
