Early voting for the Nov. 2 general election is now underway. Early voting began Monday, Sept. 20 and ends on Friday, Oct. 29 in all Georgia counties.
As of Sept. 27, 265 Barrow County voters had cast ballots, according to Barrow County Elections supervisor Katie Ferm. Ferm said her office is also busy mailing absentee ballots to voters who have requested to vote by mail. Poll worker training is also underway.
In Barrow County, early voting is being held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Barrow County Elections Office located at 233 E. Broad Street in Winder. The last day to cast an early ballot is Friday, October 29, 2010.
During the early voting period, the Barrow County Elections Office, in partnership with the Barrow County Health Department, will offer a “Vote and Vax” program. The health department will offer free TDAP and Pneumonia vaccine to those 18 years of age and older. Flu Shots will be available for $25. Vaccines will be given in the county administration building. You do not have to be a registered voter to participate.
Absentee voting also began Sept. 20. To obtain an absentee ballot application, sample ballot or voter registration application, call the elections office at 770-307-3110 or visit the Secretary of State’s “My Voter Page” at http://www.sos. ga.gov/mvp.
The last day to request an absentee ballot is Friday, Oct. 29. Completed absentee ballot applications may be mailed to the Barrow County Board of Elections and Registration, 233 E. Broad Street, Winder, Ga. 30680 or faxed to 770-307-1054.
Completed absentee ballots must be received by the voter’s county elections office by the close of polls on Election Day.
The deadline to register or update voter registration is Monday, Oct. 4. Voter registration applications must be postmarked by that date.
